Shelters across the country are in crisis with overcrowding and other major obstacles, prompting a national call for adoption. BISSELL Pet Foundation is aiming to “Empty the Shelters” by sponsoring reduced adoption fees of $50 or less during its longest-ever Summer National “Empty the Shelters” adoption event from July 11 – 31, 2022. Louisville Metro Animal Services (LMAS) is one of more than 250 participating shelters across the country joining in this lifesaving effort to take deserving pets from kennels to the couches of loving homes.

“Shelters are calling me daily and BISSELL Pet Foundation is feeling the burden of overcrowding. With the euthanasia of homeless dogs up 22% in just the first quarter of 2022 alone, we knew we had to act quickly to help at-risk pets,” said Cathy Bissell, Founder of BISSELL Pet Foundation. “Empty the Shelters is the largest funded adoption event in the country, and by extending the event to three weeks, we can help meet the immediate need to save lives.”

All kitten, puppy, dog, and cat adoptions are free for approved adopters July 11- 13. Every adoption includes spay-neuter, microchip, and vaccinations. To meet adoptable pets at LMAS, visit Animal House Adoption Center, located at 3516 Newburg Road from 12-6pm daily. Walk-ins are welcome.
